Use these interactive charts to view changes in the number and proportion of people living in poverty around the world in recent decades. Data is disaggregated geographically and by different poverty lines. Read more about recent trends in economic poverty in our factsheet .
Global, regional and national trends in poverty: 1990–2022
An interactive chart enabling you to explore global, regional and national trends in the number and percentage of people living in poverty between 1990 and 2022.

A drop-down menu above the chart enables you to view the change in the number (in millions) of people living in poverty or the percentage of people living in poverty between 1990 and 2022. Further drop-down menus provide options allowing you to filter the data by region and by different poverty line thresholds. You can also hover over a country to view specific national data.
You can zoom in and out of the map using the buttons at the top of the chart and return to the default view using the “Reset” button below the map.
