Our 2022 annual report summarises the action we have taken in the last year to deliver our mission and vision, and the impact we are having.
DownloadsAgainst a background of increasing poverty, faltering climate change mitigation and the fallout of the Ukraine invasion, 2022 presented complex challenges for development and humanitarian actors alike.
As global inequality intensified, Development Initiatives (DI) continued to push for greater transparency on aid flows and a fairer system for international cooperation via Global Public Investment. In light of the intersecting crises that unfolded due to conflict and climate change, we advocated for joined-up humanitarian responses and greater funding and independence for local actors. And drawing on our expertise in improving data use and accessibility, we launched the world’s first nutrition accountability framework (NAF) to help track and tackle global food insecurity.

On an organisational level, 2022 saw a shift in our operating model and an increased focus on working with local partners. Our first devolved hub in Nairobi, Kenya, launched its new strategy at the end of the year; outlining plans to improve international and domestic financing through strong national data ecosystems and accessible, inclusive data. We developed Carbon Reduction Plans for our offices in line with our 2050 net zero target as well as a new equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) action plan.
Finally, in November, we were delighted to welcome Adrian Lovett as the new CEO of Development Initiatives.
Our 2022 Annual Report outlines our key achievements over the past year and our strategic direction for the next decade, while reaffirming our commitment to helping end poverty, reduce inequality, and increase resilience through data-driven evidence and analysis.
