Targeting Covid-19 relief in Uganda: The role of data, statistics and evidence

This event will see a range of speakers discuss the role of data in targeting social safety nets in Uganda, an issue that is coming strongly to the fore with the impacts of Covid-19 on Uganda's poorest communities.

At this event, we will hear from a range of speakers followed by a Q&A with event attendees looking at the role of data in targeting social safety nets in Uganda. This issue is coming strongly to the fore with the impacts of Covid-19 on Uganda's poorest communities. The objectives of the event are to:

Bring together government, donors, civil society, academia and the general public to discuss role of data in Covid-19 response in Uganda in particular, and emergencies in general
Raise the profile of data and evidence in Covid-19 policy and discourse
Leverage existing data, governance processes and structures to reach the most vulnerable with the government’s Covid-19 interventions
Bring more attention to the multidimensional nature of poverty and call for more nuanced measurements and determination of poverty and its indicators

The event will be hosted by DI and moderated by Bernard Sabiti , Senior Strategic Partnerships and Engagement Manager. We will hear from a range of experts from the government, civil service, and non-governmental organisations on this vitally important topic.
