Peter Sargent
Interim Chief Transformation Officer
Where I am based: Cardiff, Wales
What I do: I am a values-based catalyst leader and consultant with organisational development and financial management expertise. I focus on providing senior management and boards of third-sector organisations with leadership and organisational development support, particularly in the areas of governance, strategic finance, risk and people management.
I enjoy supporting the process of developing strategy, translating it into actionable business plans, and aligning finance, human resources and IT functions to organisational and programme goals.
My role at Development Initiatives is to support the development of and transition towards the organisation's future business model.
Previous experience: Recent roles I would particularly highlight are as interim Chief Executive for a charity supporting women entrepreneurs across the globe, where my purpose was to manage the leadership transition and focus on operationalising the strategic plan, requiring significant engagement with private sector organisations and high-net-worth individuals.
Prior to that I was Interim Co-Director for an environmental charity providing leadership training and organisational development support for civil society organisations in the Congo Basin. My role was to support implementation of shared governance principles across the team, embed them in the programme approach and strengthening the organisational infrastructure during a period of growth.
As a consultant I have also provided project and financial management training, including with a charity supporting survivors of sexual abuse, rape and harassment. The training built the confidence of senior leaders in fulfilling their financial and programme oversight roles by identifying ways to make effective use of financial resources and tools to support the project cycle.
